Default heatsink paste

I just got an AMD 2500+ in a box and amd calls for some sort of phase
change thermal pad should hsf need to be removed and replaced.

The comp shop I went to had nothing like what was on the factory
heatsink. All they had was the white silicon paste and something
called Stars 612 - Gold [with 5% silver and 5% copper content]
Is that a good substitute for what amd recommends?

Damn, I tend to keep mine less than the *thickness* of paper, not it's
length!

The incorrect application, installation of the heatsink and thickness of
paste can send your temps quite high. For full information on this visit
http://www.arcticsilver.com/ I am sure it applies to virtually all
heatsink pastes.

Hope this helps,

Alan
