KT4AV Motherboard - CPU Speed Issues
I just purchased a KT4VA motherboard and put a 1.7 Gig Athlon XP
processor in it. However, I cannot get the computer to go any faster than 1.1. The manufacturer hasn't been much help, nor has the manual. Can anyone tell me the correct settings to make this work? Thanks! Mark |

I just had the same problem with my new Athlon and motherboard. You have to
set the FSB speed to 133MHz rather than the default 100MHz it is currently running at. As the CPU multiplier is 11.5, it is currently running at 11.5 x 100MHz = 1.15Ghz, rather than what it should be running at which is 11.5 x 133.33MHz = 1.53GHz. (Note the Athlon's model number is not the speed it runs at, so your 1700+ does not run at 1.7GHz). Check your motherboard's manual to set the CPU's external frequency from 100MHz to 133MHz. Awesome. Worked like a charm Joe. The only odd thing is now the BIOS
on startup shows it as Athlon XP 1700+ instead of the 1.1GHz that it was showing. Still, I'm not complaining. Thanks for the assist! "Joe" wrote in message ...
