Need your opinions on these systems
The second is clearly the faster of the two. However, in my opinion
computers used for work have no business being overclocked. Stability and accuracy are what is needed for a work computer. These are awesome gaming machines. "Mark Jaggers" wrote in message om... I was hoping to get some opinions about these systems that this company is offering on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=2741325 941 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=2742047 945 I need to get a new pc for work and normally we just get dells, but these intrigued me. thanks Mark |

Your best bet would probably be to ignore both ebay and Dell. Find a good local mom and pop computer shop to build exactly what you want — or do it yourself. For work, as in business applications? I suggest that you avoid
overclocking, and get an Athlon XP3000+, XP2800+ 333 Barton, or XP2600+333 system if you want great performance at a very reasonable price. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...xp-3000_2.html Mark Jaggers wrote: I was hoping to get some opinions about these systems that this company is offering on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=2741325 941 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=2742047 945 I need to get a new pc for work and normally we just get dells, but these intrigued me. thanks Mark |

If this is for your personal use at home, well, enjoy the time tweaking and hopefully you don't end up burning anything up. Hopefully this won't be your desktop or it gets placed a ways away or in a cabinet; else, you'll go deaf having to listen to all the fan noise. I replaced my power supply fan with a stealth fan from Vantec (and also installed one as a case fan but which isn't connected since the heat isn't high enough - yet) so I didn't have to listen to the loud fan noise while sneaking around in my favorite stealth game (Thief). The "various software" (mentioned for your first link) does NOT include an operating system. I can price the same system from www.mwave.com at $1436, so it's $160 cheaper but with their unit they have put it together and you are get more cooling capacity with their unit (if you overclock; otherwise, you've just added more noise). I don't see this eBay seller operating as an eBay store, so they are just another eBay user with 94 transactions to date (but not all buyers report feedback) of which 70 are for unique buyers (which meant they bought again). "We provide a one year warranty that covers all parts," which means you get a new part to install *after* you send them the defective one. After 30 days, you'll probably find it hard to get them to honor their warranty or might not even be able to find them. They have a web site (http://www.yetipc.com) but it is just an "under construction" place holder site. I tend to be suspicious. Their domain registration for yetipc.com says they are in Alabama (USA). However, they have their have their web site hosted at Dreamhost in California. Their "contact us" link on their web site lists their Alabama address and their e-mail address, but they do not list a telephone number (and neither does their emulated "store" ad in eBay). When I looked at this seller's other auctions, there aren't any bids on any of them. |

I have Asus A7N8X-X with Athlon 2800 + 333 and 1gig pc3200 memory. I am
very satisfied with the performance. I owned 6 computers before I made this one. All pentiums. This one is way better for everything (apps, games....) than any Pentium I've ever had. For much less money you can make a beast of a computer. Just my 2 cents.
