Ping J. Clarke
Just thought I let you know I think you are on the right track
with the Raid 5 "new hardware" issue,if you recall. For example,I just ghosted and installed replacement drives from Maxtor on a single workstation ,exact model Maxtor, and when I fired up ,XP went through it's little install thing of "found new drive".It worked fine saying yes yes...to the install of the disk, unlike the server, but I feel that this triggering of "found new hardware" demonstrates your theory of my raid 5 array being recognized as "new" hardware, even though it is exactly the same make and model of drive, only the serial is different.I now agree with you, that win2k server does a serial check of the drive, actuating a security feature of some sort, makng it impossible to log on to the restored system.I will try the instructions on the link you gave me and try again,I'll post results. Thanks for the pointer, yeah I resisted but I bet you are correct,Adysthemic |
