I was going to correct you about "nerve-racking", but lucky for me, I
checked first :-)

Seems that both are correct, but my form, "nerve-wracking", is the
variant form.

I also always thought that it was "nerve-wracking." You didn't say
where you checked, so I just checked in WNI2, and to my surprise found
the same thing.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/nerve-racking

To tell the truth, I really didn't know, since I got there by clicking
on my desktop dictionary gadget. I usually don't pay attention to where
it takes me, so I had to repeat the look-up today :-)

Canned air works better with out the risk of scratching the lens

Good alternative, though more expensive.
I also need that to clean the interior of (a mechanical) clock, but
havn't had the time to find a supplier yet.

At least you haven't wracked it yet.

Smoking can contribute to contamination of lenses.

A supplier of what, canned air?

My mom used to use a long, soft chicken feather to clean the internal
workings of our grandfather clock. I suppose any bird feather would
work as well. Gordon

Nah, hummingbird feathers would probably be next to useless for that.

In that case, just use the entire bird...feathers still attached. Hold
it by its feet and let it flap away inside the clock. This should
clear out most of the lint and dust. ;-) Gordon
