That "someone" calls themself Western Supplies. However, that is a
store front at Amazon provided to non-Amazon sellers. So you won't
really know who is the seller. Reviews of transactions with this seller
only back a year. There are only 19 ratings in that year's duration.
So the seller hasn't been around very long (under that storefront) and
hasn't had much volume of sales. If you go to the seller's storefront,
he doesn't have much to sell. In the description of one of his wares,
he says "Manfacturer: Western Companies". That is NOT the same was
Western Digital Corp, just a misleading name for his storefront. Amazon
won't provide you details regarding their customers that pay for
storefronts at their site.

This seller is lying. Warranties are only valid to the original
purchaser, not to resales of components from salvaged devices. You get
no warranty with this purchase.

https://support.wdc.com/warranty/warrantypolicy.aspx
"No limited warranty is provided by WD unless your WD Product
("Product") was purchased from an authorized distributor or authorized
reseller."
and
"If your Product was purchased as a component integrated within a system
by a system manufacturer, no limited warranty is provided by WD. Please
contact the place of purchase or the system manufacturer directly for
warranty service."

Since you don't get the device from which these drives were removed, the
warranty cannot be transferred to you for a device you never got.

So then I have to strip the external case myself. No big deal.
