Has anyone these results in your humid areas?

"We classify a datacenter as ... humid (H as the second letter of
the tag) if at least 10% of its internal relative humidities over a
year are above 60%."

http://www.cityrating.com/relativehumidity.asp

To see average morning and evening humidty along with average monthly
humidity, start at:

http://www.cityrating.com/weather-history/

Click on your city (if listed) or the nearest one, and scroll down to
the "Humidity and Rain" details section.

Seems my city is rarely under 60% humidity. Las Vegas is dry (you
should tote a water bottle) but I'm not moving there (for more reasons
than dryness) just so my HDDs will live longer. New Orleans is the
other spectrum end: soggy.

HDDs are not sealed. They have a breather filter to equalize outside &
inside pressures; see http://alasir.com/books/hards/022-024.html.
http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/pa...zes-d_934.html shows some
particule sizes, and some are under 0.3 micron. These filters won't
have any effect against molecular sized contaminents, like humidity.
Since some contaminents are under 0.3 micron, there are other
environments where HDDs will have shorter lifespans.

I'm not sure any end user that would respond here has availability to
the forensics lab requirements to diagnose the cause of death for an HDD
or the finances capable of purchasing and testing thousands of HDDs to
replicate the research you noted.

Hong Kong is a coastal town. Mountain valleys can be very wet, too.

Do not forget that temperature can affect humidity! In fact, they are
"twins" affecting each other!

BTW, What really changes temperature and humidity in data centers is the
air-conditioning, aka wind?
