BackBlaze Storage Pod 5.0 - 180 TB cloud server:

I wonder when they will transition to 6 TB drives?

In the comments they says they're still evaluating them (and 8TB). From
the figures to this point, Seagate "Desktop" drives seem to be more
reliable than the WD Reds. Nothing for 6TB HGST drives so far.

The largest capacity drives usually cost more per GB than smaller sizes.
Backblaze churns through huge numbers of drives every year, collecting
data, testing, and doing sharp pencil calculations of what it all costs.
They'll go to 6TB drives when the numbers dictate it.

They already have 2,340 of the 6 Tb drives according to:

https://www.backblaze.com/blog/200-p...-and-counting/

And 45 of the 8 TB drives. Looks like they are past the testing phase
on the 6 TB drives and just waiting for the prices to drop.
