Memory for BOXDP35DPM LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX
I plan to use a Core 2 Duo processor with this board and would like some
info about the memory to choose. Does the memory depend on the processor or the motherboard, i.e., if I were to decide to upgrade to a Quad core processor at some point, would I need different memory? I am thinking about purchasing mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) with EPP Profile Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory ($39 at newegg.com) Any suggestions? Also is there a limit to the amount of RAM that WinXP will address? Thanks KK |

The memory interface is provided by the motherboard chipset, not the processor. KK I'm also planning on using the dp35dp for my build. My memory of choice is also the Mushkin 4GB (2x2GB) just because its a well known brand and that it runs at 1.8v. That is the only type of memory voltage that the board will accept. Windows XP like the poster above states, only addresses about 3.5GB of memory so its good to get 4GB (or 2) just because DDR2 is cheap now. I just got Intel's E8400 proc from Newegg before they sold out. Will try Vista Home Premium 32bit for the OS. I'll post some more as my build "comes together" good luck on yours Thanks. The link to the Mushkin that I quoted above is to a RAM that runs at 2.1 - 2.3 volts, and the RAM for that board needs to be 1.8 v, so do be careful. I will either look for Mushkin or Crucial RAM. I had thought about Vista, but I have heard so many complaints that I think I will stick with XP. Ken K |
