Default Good monitor for viewing DVDs ??

Have a good game box, and DVD movies look pretty good on
LCD monitor ( Viewsonic 19 inch ). I would like to buy a larger
wide screen monitor / TV (??) to hang on the wall near the PC
so my wife and I can sit and watch movies .. or even cable
TV since I also have a Hauppauge WinTV 350. I use PowerDVD
for viewing DVD movies. What I have works, but it is just too
small for both of us to sit several feet away and watch. I'm
looking for a monitor 24 inches to 32 inches wide that is also
light enough to hang up on the wall. Not so much a TV set,
as just a wide LCD monitor. My graphics card is an ATI
9800 Pro 128 AGP. It has DVI, S-video in, and Analog VGA.
I'm using the DVI connector already. That leaves the VGA
connector for the DVD viewer which I only want to turn on
when needed for watching movies, or cable TV. I've seen
connector adapters to go from VGA analog to HDTV. I
confess I don't know what can do that, or if it will meet my
needs. I'm not about to go buy some Walmart rip-off that
will sort of do that, and then fail and get me into warranty
repairs ... like all their crap does. I've also seen LCD
monitors that look great with VGA input ... just don't know
if the wide "gamer" ones will do what I want. Anybody got
a clue? I'm looking at a price range of maybe $350 with
good resolution for DVD and TV only. I already know that
a wide screen "gamer" LCD monitor cannot be used as
a desktop monitor. The resolution is too poor for that,
and most of them are very expensive. I also know that
Viewsonic has some new "fairly wides" that are pretty good
for desktop work. I just wonder if one of the vendors has
realized that just a little bit wider, would make a nice
addition for viewing DVDs ??
