Default HSM + Centralized Backups

"Rodrick R. Brown" wrote in message ...
Hello all I have quite a architecture question

I have the following mount point /netbackup shared across 4 systems using
SAMQFS (sam_sharefsd) this mount point is used as a buffer for the systems
running Oracle, archive logs are written to this mount point and later
staged to Tape in almost realtime when a file has been accessed from this
/netbackup mount point it is staged back online instantaneously.

I'm also using Veritas Netbackup to backup about 15 servers the netbackup
dumps are all placed in /netbackup and later staged offline. Basically
Netbackup does not own the Tape Archive. Our HSM Software SAMQFS does.

So here is my question I would like to get away from paying for 2 products
when I last spoke to veritas they had a very expensive solution with
Tivoli Sanergy this bought me nothing sinse I would be back to using 2
software products is there any 1 tool that can use to acomplish what I'm
doing above and have support for Windows NT and Solaris ? I dont need NT
to support the HSM feature just centralized backups but the Sun boxes does
need to support the HSM feature and centralized backups

The current environment consists of 1 L180 6 x DLT7000 drives, T3 6910, 20
Solaris Servers and about 8 Windows Servers.

Thanks in advance.

Check out StorNext Management Suite. You can have a Solaris Meta Data
Server and Windows clients all sharing the same file system. This will
also support migrating data from Disk (FC) to Disk (S-ATA) and making
copies to Tape and Vault.

You may have to upgrade your L180?
