Reformatted & now sound card won't work - win98
Hi all,
My dad had been having serious dropout problems on his dialup and it turned out his internal modem had had its day. With a corrupted registry and other issues, I told him it would be easier for me to reformat and start from scratch. Which I've done. Everything's going fine, except we've no sound. I don't know what sound card he has -- Belarc Adviser and Si Soft Sandra both just call it "sound blaster compatible 8 bit". Before the reformat it worked fine and I *know* I should have written down what the settings were before I reformatted, but it's a bit late now. I installed the "sound blaster or compatible drivers" and I'm not showing any conflicts in "System Properties = Device Manager". I also took the side off the computer and looked at the card but it doesn't have any obvious branding or anything on it. Does anyone have any advice on where to go from here? Thanks, Catherine http://OzFree.it-net.com.au |
