Default Home Networking Just won't happen..

I run XP on 3 machines connected together thru a Linksys router. I
cannot get them to network with each other.. I have tried all the
ususal wizards and sit, and always get the error message that
something is wrong and I should see the administrator or such.. Any
ideas? Should I unload all the network settings and start over on all
machines? If so, what do I unload? All my friends say they machines
linked up real easy, but not me..

Thanks,

Brick

Make sure they all have the same 'workgroup' name.
Make sure none of the computers has the same name.
Make sure ( if wirelessly networked) the encryption is the same on all
and they all use the same passphrase.
(And if wireless, all on the same broadcast channel, 11 is default I
think)
Make sure any firewalls ( like ZoneAlarm) aren't messing things up.
Also, besides having 'printer/drive sharing on' , I had to add a new
share and call it something like 'desktops hard drive"

I have 3 hardwired desktops ( Win2K) and a laptop , wireless, running
XP and theses are the things I have had problems with.

That's about the extent of my knowlege.

Thanks, HTH, I passed muster on all your suggestions, but still no
go.. I am wondering if I delete the networking files at Control
Panel/device mgr. Might try that.. I did get an error message one
time when trying to play a game online, that 'my computer had two
different IP numbers, one being 'internal' and one being 'external'..
I never could figure out what that was about, and it cleared itself
up, which is even stranger..
Best to ya,

b.
