Default Canon & Firefox

Hi, I just bought & installed a Canon Pixma MP470 inkjet (nice machine
BTW). I can print from my harddrive fine, but when at a webmail site
via Firefox, I get an error message, "Printer not responding." If I
copy the text at the webmail site to notepad, I can print it,
NP.However, if I access the same site via IE, I can print it out
directly and quickly. I normally never use Internet Explorer & I don't
really want to start.

Am I doing something wrong? I have tried turning off all my security
apps ( which is extreme IMHO), but it does not help. Is there a work-
around for this?? The Canon site is no help at all, & the Firefox site
doesn't seem to address this issue either. I am using an Acer AST180
desktop running Windows MCE.

Try starting Firefox. It usually does not matter what site it goes to or
even if you hit the "X" button and bring up the blank screen during
Firefox's startup phase.

1) Click on the "File" option at the top of the Firefox window.
2) Choose "Print", not "Page Preview" or "Page Setup".
3) Is your new printer already in the "Name" field?, if not use the little
down-arrow and choose your printer. (This is where you tell Firefox what
printer to use as a default choice) If it is not on the list of printers
then you have some kind of installation problem as Firefox gets this list
from Windows or your currently loaded version of Firefox has a problem. If
the printer is not listed I would close Firefox and bring up Firefox using
Firefox's built in Safe mode using the Start, Programs, Mozilla Firefox,
Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode) and start again at option #1 above.
4) If your printer is already listed in the "Name" field, then click on the
"OK" button and see if the currently loaded page prints correctly. If it
does then you know Firefox can print to the printer if given the chance and
something else is most likely causing your problem, like a Firefox Add-on.

If this does not work for you others here may be able to come up with a
"fix" for you, if not try posting your question over in the
mozilla.support.firefox newsgroup and see what they come up with.
