Default OT? installation prob?

hi all, inot sure where to post this, but here goes.... have a prob
concerning a win2000 pro installation.
when i have installed win 2000 onto a freshly formatted drive, all seems to
be ok untill i use the mainboard cd to install the chipset drivers/usb ports
etc.
what happens then is that i loose my cd and floppy disk drives. in other
words, on the POST screen it shows everzthing as normal, but when win2000
boots up and i click on "my computer", it only shows the hard drives. all
the drivers are up to date and nothing else other than the mainboard drivers
have been installed. i have also flashed the bios with no result.
i had to install xp to get the thing functioning properly again....

any ideas?

cheers

steve
