Gainward FX 5900 Ultra 256 MB driver - not Golden Sample
Anybody know off the top of their head what the latest VGA driver is for
this card? I don't think it's 56.72- the readme for that only listed the FX 5800 as being supported, so I didn't try using it. I'm currently using VGA driver version 6.14.10.5664, BIOS version 4.35.20.21.00 The latest expertool download (1.71?)didn't work with this card. Under performance, it showed the memory speed correctly as 450 MHz, but the needle was in the orange zone. It stayed there when I clicked "Safe Mode Settings". The card works very well, I'm not changing anything at this time, just curious. |

The readme for the 56.72 drivers is at http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/5... s_v56.72.pdf Page 25 is the list of supported hardware. The 5900 is clearly shown here as supported in Ultra, XT, and normal versions. Which readme have you been looking at? The 56.72 drivers support everything from the Riva TNT2 and Vanta cards all the way up to the FX5950 Ultra. Dan |

... I downloaded my 56.72 from the Gainward web site. This is the readme file that came with it: Looks like Gainward either used an earlier driver readme and just changed the version number, or nVidia added FX5900/5950 support to the 56.72 drivers and sent a pre-release readme to Gainward. Anyway, I'm running the 56.72 nVidia drivers with both a Ti4200 and an FX5900XT and had no problems. Dan |
