9600 Pro ownage
I just exchanged an FX 5200 Ultra for a 9600 pro and i gotta say the 9600
pro OWNS the 5200 Ultra. My 3DMark03 score went up by over 1200 points for a $30.00 price difference. I think i'm an ATI believer now... Thats all. |

Hardly surprising as the 5200 isnt meant to compete with the 9600 - I guess if I
bought a FX58/5900/Ultra I would say it "owns" the 9600pro and I am now a "total nVidia convert" - or better still my new Matrox Parhelia "owns" my old ATI Rage 16Mb - I'm a Matrox believer now....... Sorry to sound antagonistic but these sort of comments really wind me up - compare like with like. Admittedly his comparison isn't exactly fair, but then 'fair' is price for
price comparison, and the 9600 is cheaper than the FX5600. The Radeon 9000/9100/9200 are also cheaper than the FX5200. And finally the 9800 is cheaper than the FX5900. Guys, Guys, Guys
I understand your points that the 5200 Ultra is considered an "entry level" board and the 9600 pro is a midlevel board so its kind of an unfair comparison. My only point in the post was that i was surprised the $30.00 upgrade to the 9600 Pro produced such a large increase in performance over the 5200 Ultra. My hope was that people looking at purchasing a 9600 might appreciate my comparison. Thats all... aep@nospam writeme.com wrote in message ... I got a 9600 128mb ddr for $54.99 NIB, haven't seen any 5200 near that
price yet Bish wrote: Guys, Guys, Guys I understand your points that the 5200 Ultra is considered an "entry level" board and the 9600 pro is a midlevel board so its kind of an unfair comparison.
