No, it's F10, and I am trying to boot from A, but it doesn't
like it. I'm going to try unplugging the A in it and plugging in another one I've got. Thanks though John On 13 Sep 2003 16:36:57 GMT, donut wrote: (Monkey) wrote in : Help! A wonderful lady I know has gotten a used computer from her employer. It has been stripped and has no operating system. I have tried to boot from a Win95 boot disk, but it gives the error "Invalid system disk. Replace the disk, and then press any key". It's trying to boot from C:, as it's BIOS tells it, and there's no OS there. You need to get into the BIOS and change the boot order to boot A: first, C: last. On most Compaqs, you do this by pressing F8 at the logo screen, when the computer first comes on. I usually press it repeatedly during this time until the BIOS comes up. |

If you can help me impress this woman, my mom, who wants some grandkids, and I would appreciate it. Thanks for any help you can give me. I am going out to get a floppy-drive-cleaning disk, because I can't think of anything else. John |
