Default Seatools problem

Hello,

my quite old seagate drive (ST310210A)is having serious issues. I want
to use him in my Oracle testing PC server, so I have downloaded the
Seatools software to check what is wrong with him. Because I have no
FDD at all, I chose CD-ROM ISO image instead of FDD one. The problem is
that a boot using this image is hanging even before starting of
Seatools. I've "debugged" starting sequence using good old F8 and I
realized that the problem is the very last line in autoexec.bat where
is:

findrdsk vdisk

this command simply hangs forever any time I try to execute him. I have
search internet and usenet, but got no reference to this command.
In the case of skipping of this statement, the hang occurs after typing
of "C:" or "C:\seatools", it looks like created virtual drive is simply
unavailable. However, it is probably not a conflict with the
problematic Seagate drive, because it is hanging even after this drive
was taken off.

Can somebody help me?

Thank you

The Ultimate Boot CD has it already installed, that should boot fine.

I could not get it to run at first. It turns out it only works when booting
from the first CD/DVD (as listed in BIOS).

No, it is useless in my case. It is using the same setup as original
Seagate's Seatools so it is also hanging in the exactly same moment. I
will try to check this drive in a different PC.

There must be something very fundamentally
stuffed about that system if it cant boot that CD.

I will try to check this drive in a different PC.

You should be working out why you cant boot that CD in that PC.

Try the knoppix boot CD, see if you can boot that.

I also experienced this problem, it seems that there is something broken in
version 3.00.07 of seatools because there is nothing wrong with my setup. I
was lucky that I had a backup of the previous version 3.00.06, which is
working absolutely fine. If you want me to send it to you send me the
address of a server to upload it or your email, its 5+3MB (ISO + Floppy).

No, I can boot from CDs with no problem. The problem is only with the
"findrdsk" utility, that is simply not working on my computer.
Unfortunately, this program is used by both boot CDs, so I can not use
any of them.
