Default Question about Caviar 2340 HDD

I have an old Caviar 2340 HDD. It has 341.2 MB of storage, 1010 cyclindes,
and 55 sectors. I'd like to use it as a secondary slave drive, but Windows
XP seems to be having difficulty recognizing the drive. I have even tried
Datalife Guard Tools by Western Digital. It will sometimes recognize the
drive, and at other times, the drive will disappear completely off the
list of currently active HDDs on my system.

Any ideas as to what is causing this problem? Right-clicking on My
Computer, followed by Data management will also list the drive
periodically, but it too will disappear off the list from time to time.

Sincerely,

Paul Allen Panks
