Default 2100 will. Why won't 1700?

I've got a A7NX8, rev.2, Crucial PC2100 Cas 2 DDR, and it'll run a
2100XP+ at 190 fsb(only ran it there a few mins a couple of times--no
probs., just played a couple of games), and at 166 fsb for past 5 weeks.
It's a T'bred "B" w/mult. unlocked.
I've just got a 1700XP+, T'bred "B" w/mult unlocked. Why won't it run
at anything above 133? I've upped the cpu-volt to 1.625 in both instances.
Am I expecting too much.? Got it to post a couple of times at 11X138 (=1.53)
and played just a game or two of Freecell--very little stress--and it
reboots on its own there.
All advice greatly appreciated.(Can u tell I'm ill-informed about
overclocking?) sdlomi

I noted in 1st post I upped voltage, but just from 1.6 to 1.625. How
far can I up it? I have no idea how much is safe. Thx for your help,
sdlomi

Thanks, Frank & Fig. I tried my 1700 there at 1.7, and it works fine
now at 166X11 at 1.7 volts. Temps are staying around 35 & 40 with room at
72F. BTW: I guess my 2100 spoiled me, as it will run 190X13 at 1.6 volt,
altho' I upped it to 1.625 just for extra measure. My 2100 ram won't allow
for higher fsb, altho' I feel it's going the extra mile doing 190. Kingston
HyperX 3500 is on my "get list".
With your help, this 1700 now 'feels' much like the 2100 with its
snappiness. sdlomi

I'm not familiar with your board, but why don't you try raising the FSB in
1MHz increments just for fun? If it becomes unstable or fails to boot drop
back and run Prime95 to check stability.

If Santa brings you that Kingston you'll be doing over FSB200. I'm using
512MB of DDR400 "mystery memory" I got for $61 on eBay and I get FSB210. I
got lucky on that deal ;-) But for now I'm bidding on a XP2500 (0331
unlocked).

I'm sure you can go over FSB166. Post your results!

I have the same board and processor, but with 2700memory, I can't get past
168 stable.
