minimum graphics memory

How can I calculate the minimum graphics memory required,

for resolution of 800x600 pixels at 24 bit color depth
how do you compute this ?

Well here they are

Resolution Color Mode Memory Needed
640x480 8-bit (256 colors) 512Kb
640x480 16-bit (65,000 colors) 1Mb
640x480 24-bit (16 million colors) 1Mb

800x600 8-bit (256 colors) 512Kb
800x600 16-bit (65,000 colors) 1Mb
800x600 24-bit (16 million colors) 2Mb

1024x768 8-bit (256 colors) 1Mb
1024x768 16-bit (65,000 colors) 2Mb
1024x768 24-bit (16 million colors) 4Mb

You may find this formula useful too

Memory in MB = (X-Resolution * Y-Resolution * Bits-Per-Pixel) / (8 *
1,048,576)
