Default Standard azimuth angle for displays?

Is there a standard viewing angle for flat panel displays to get the best
definition and color?

I mean the up-down azimuth angle.

My wife insists on having the screen vertical but I like to have it facing
me squarely.

Standard? Not that I've heard of. With older LCDs the viewing angle was
rather narrow and straight-on was clearly the best way to go. Most modern
LCDs can manage a decent display over at least 20 (or so) degrees. One
argument for straight-on has nothing to do with the definition and color --
at an angle the display appears smaller (subtends a smaller angle) so you
can't get all that you are paying for. OK, so that isn't a strong argument
but it is true.

Bigger question though, why can't each of you simply tilt the screen to
his/her own preferences unless you are both trying to look at it
simultaneously? (when that happens next you can reopen the dispute)

See replies to your nearly identical post submitted all of 4 minutes
later (except there you ask about inclination angle and here you ask
about azimuth). Will there be another post that asks about angle of
incidence?

Ah, it's the bedroom.

* She wants the TV standing on the dressing table.
* You want the TV mounted on the ceiling...

Where does the beer fridge fit in all of this?
