Default Strange 7900GT behavoir when connected to KVM

I have a MSI GF4 Ti4200 on one PC and EVGA 7900GT KO on the other and both
are connected via a KVM. Every now and again the screen on the 7900GT will
go all magenta but the screen on the GF4 never does. It will be fine for
days and then all of a sudden just go magenta. Reconect cables and it
will be fine for days again. I've swapped the cables between each video
card around and it makes no dif. The 7900GT is connected to a DVI to VGA
adaptor and the GF4 isn't so maybe that could be it but I have changed the
adaptor and that made no dif either. Why would the KVM cable be fine for
days and then all of a sudden the screen goes magenta? If there is an
issue with the KVM cable you would think it would show up immediately.
