Need driver for Compaq Laptop
I have a Laptop. It's a Compaq
Armada 1130T, Pentium 120Mhz and it has an external CD drive called Backpack by Microsolutions. The system needs some drivers to recognize the external CD Drive. Obviously this is an older system. Anyone have any idea where I could find the drivers to make this external CD drive work? The drivers would be provided by Microsolutions, not Compaq.
One simple google search returned: http://www.micro-solutions.com/software_library/ Tom "Bruce Whealton, Jr MSW" wrote in message k.net... I have a Laptop. For some reason this driver won't download. Plus it's 1.82MB, so unless it
opens up into a couple floppies, it will be problematic to use. The system does not have a cd player on it other than the external. But thanks for the tip on the cd driver. Do check the model numbers carefully as some models require real mode
only drivers. I've been trying to get an answer about a power supply from them for a couple of days now. "Tom Scales" wrote in message ... The drivers would be provided by Microsolutions, not Compaq. You just download the EXE file and run it to install the driver. Without
it the CD will not work. -- Steve "Bruce Whealton, Jr MSW" wrote in message ink.net... For some reason this driver won't download. I assume the laptop is not online?
If so you try a couple of approaches. 1. Using WinZip or any similar program to create a disk spanning compressed archive set of the file. If you are successful you will have a set of disk that you can extract the file from onto the laptop. If the laptop does not have an archiving/compression program, you can make the archive self-extracting as well. otherwise you will need to load that program onto the laptop to open the archive set. 2. Can you do a direct cable connect from the laptop to a machine that you can download the file to and transfer it into the laptop that way. There are a number of programs to do this (i.e. Laplink, etc.). 3. Can you connect the laptop to a network with a share partition you can download the file to and then copy it to the laptop. After thought from the back burner of my mind.
What about the basic DOS or 16 bit drivers? Some of those are small enough to fit a floppy and once you get the drive to work you could have the larger file burned to a CD and use that to copy them to the laptop hard drive while in DOS. then you can boot to windows and run the driver install.
