Default USB keyboard question

Can one use a PS2/USB adapter to make a standard PS2 keyboard work in
a USB port, or would a keyboard have to boast USB functionality when
bought to function with a USB port?

It might sound stupid but just but a usb keyboard. A standard, no frills one
wouldn't be expensive at all.

But be sure to hang on to your old keyboard for the times when you need to
make changes to your BIOS.
