! I Want to Build a Video Workstation. NOT GAMING AT ALL Whats best?

Ok so i want to build a good Video Editing workstation. I use canopus & adobe encore for authoring. Thoughts on what would be the best Mobo & Video card solution. I am NOT going to be Gameing AT ALL. I just need good performance, so i would assume the video card need not be top o the line. Not looking to put tons into it, but i will for the right configuration. I'd really love to hear from anyone else doing video editing on the PC. Canopus as in EDIUS PRO? Under minimum system requirements, they specify: - DirectX 9.0 or later - Graphics card with hardware-based DirectDraw overlay and 32-bit color display at a 1024x768 resolution (128MB of graphics memory is required when editing in HD resolution) So how's about one of these highly rated silent Asus jobbies: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121008 Review thing: www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2756 If you using other Canopus hardware, this page may be of interest: http://www.canopus.com/support/hardw...patibility.php I like the silient runners, nothing worse than cooling fans that keep gettin logged up with dust. Yes it is Canopus Edius pro, and its not hard to get within spec according to thier page, I was actually wondering if AMD or INTEL is the way to go too. Im looking to build from ground up, NEW motherboard, NEW memory, Video carts Ohh and lets toss in a nice big fat SATA HD while im at it. All my 3-4 yr old hardware is useless in the new systems. IS there any Real world Difference between SATA & IDE-80 pin ATA-133? |

Take a look at the CPU Charts on this page: http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html I opted to overclock an E6400 on a Biostar 965PT motherboard as a "budget" alternative to a higher-end system. I was waiting for the new revision of the P5B-E because I needed the higher voltage specified by my already purchased memory, but I gave up. To this day, I still don't see it as being available. I saw people having enough trouble with the P5B Deluxe models, so decided to look elsewhere. The Biostar is not without its quirks, but my needs are simple. My new case has filters, which hopefully will keep most of the dust out... IS there any Real world Difference between SATA & IDE-80 pin ATA-133? Probably not much. I'm not sure how the third party PATA controllers are interfaced since Intel dropped support on the chipset on 965 and 975. |
