Default Intel Extreme Graphics and SUSE 9.0 BootSplash

Hello,

I have a onboard Intel Extreme graphics card in a eMachine 420 and currently
have SUSE Linux 9.0 installed.

The problem is that the boot splash is not showing (X works fine).

If I do

hwinfo --framebuffer

it does not appear to show any available Modes for the card.

I have tried modifying vga=XXX in /boot/grub/menu.lst 'blindly' but can only
change it to different character modes.

Incidentally the initial Grub screen which displayed before system boot
appears fine. What Mode is this using?

If anyone knows of the valid Modes or knows how to get it working I would
appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Cole

Cole,

try this in your shell of choice:

mk_initrd -s 1024x768 replace w/ your favorite screen resolution

I had the same prob after mucking about w/ my bootloader opts. that fixed
it.
