Default Cracked 128MB SmartMedia card

Bought a 128 MB Lexar SmartMedia Card from Fry's 2 years ago.
Suddenly, the card has cracked where I grip it to remove
ffrom card reader. FRY's says both they and LEXAR's warranty [5 years]
does NOT cover physical damage.

I did not abuse the card but it is a little difficult to grip when
from my DELKIN eFILM reader/writer.
Are LEXAR SM cards more fragile?
Should I avoid buying another LEXAR, look for other source?

Is FRY's correct about cracked card is not covered?

FRY's says I must deal with LEXAR thru FRY's.
Is there a LEXAR web site or rep in USA?

Any suggestions about how to recover some of my cost are welcomed.

Thank you, Dave_s
