Call of Duty Crashes on TI4200
Hi All,
I have a P4 with 256 MEG of RAM and a PNY GEFORCE TI4200. I was using the latest 52.16 drivers, but have tried re-installing older drivers as well with the same results. I'll be in the game for 15 seconds or so, start to see some weird colors on the screen and then the whole things wigs out and crashes. MOHAA: Breakthrough runs fine, it is only call of duty that is doing this. Is anyone else having a problem? I've been waiting for this game a while and this is depressing I've tried going back to the 42.XX drivers to no avail. I've also tried setting the audio to basic acceleration as well as running the game in safe mode. Same thing happens everytime. Thanks for any help! |

It sounds like the problem many Radeon users have with the latest drivers. Try disabling fastwrites and undo any overclocking.. --- Anders |

I played the "Call of Duty" demo last night and it worked okay, except that it had these annoying pauses where the game sort of went on a break for two seconds, but eventully we'd get back to the war in the ruins of France. I've been getting that exact same problem on occasion Nada. I played the game for almost 3 hours last night without a hitch, but just started experiencing it today. Odd thing is I've never had a problem like this on any other q3 engined game, and this is probably the 4th game on my machine utilizing the engine. GF4 Ti 4200 45.2.3 Jon B. |

"Elite Force II" demo (also Q3 engine) didn't have those pauses, but I noticed weird "shaking" effect where you'd look from left to right and the textures would just shake like they would have a seizure. This happened outside on a landing platform where it was dark and thundering. Very annoying and very odd. I don't know if this is a driver bug or what, but the problem was most unusual, as it was with "Call of Duty" its paused moments. I've played with the 45 Detonators for the last two months. |
