Default 7110GX Laptop begins to start then shuts down

I have a Gateway 7110GX initially I had a problem with the a/c adaptors.
I resolved that issue and now my laptop will try to boot up then it
goes dead. I was told that the power supply was integrated into the
motherboard and that I need to purchase a new one. No one seems to have
the part number that is listed on my board. They say it isn't old enough
and yet Gateway doesn't have them. Any ideas as to what is causing this?
Could a jack be broken that I can't see or is there something else
wrong with it? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank You.

Loose power jacks are common on many makes and models. Putting slight
pressure up or down will usually tip you off to this. And if you think
you need a new motherboard, that will cost like $600 or so. They are not
cheap. Try booting the laptop without the main battery. If it boots
okay, the battery is most likely shot.
