OEM Nero 6 - useless.
Afternoon all,
I've just bought a nice new fast DVDR drive and it's turned up with the lame ass OEM version of Nero. All I can seem to get to is Nero Express rather than Nero Burning ROM which I'm used to. Anyone know if there is anyway of getting to BurningROM with the OEM cd or do I just need to get my credit card out? Thanks for any info. Dave. |

If you already had Nero Burning ROM as you indicate, why do you feel it is necessary to load the OEM Nero Express anyway? If you own Nero full version, just go and download the latest version to which you are entitled. Now if you own an OLD version (4 or 5) then you will have to pay the UPGRADE price for Version 6. |

Sorry, should have been more clear. I already have 5.5 which came with an old CD writer. The new version is an OEM Nero 6. |

I bought 5.5 recently enough to be entitled to a free upgrade to 6, but I'm still using 5.5 because in my opinion, 6 is still buggy crap. |

Sorry, should have been more clear. I already have 5.5 which came with an old CD writer. The new version is an OEM Nero 6. First uninstall the earlier version. There is a weird issue reported by some people where if you tried to install the new version on top of the old one, you'd screw up both (and it's kind of hard to uninstall at that point). Depending on how the OEM disc was laid out, when it did the install, you should have gotten two different shortcuts. One for Nero, and one for Nero Express. Either way, they're both the same executable. If you didn't get both shortcuts created, make a copy of the Nero Express shortcut. Right click on this copy, then remove the /w switch from the TARGET line. The /w switch tells Nero to go into Nero Express mode. Without any command line options, it will default to the standard Nero. ---------------------------------------- Thanks, MCheu |
