9200 cpu upgrade
Hi,
A friend has a 9200 with the 1.8 c2d cpu and wants to upgrade it. I have 2 x 9200's, 1 with the 2.4 c2d and 1 with the 2.4 Quad Core and so I'm assuming the cpu structure is the same?. Would I be right in telling him that he can upgrade his c2d with a Quad Core or are the motherboards slightly different? Thanks in advance |

The answer to your question is a definite "Maybe." If the motherboards in your
system have absolutely the same Dell part number and BIOS revision, the odds are extremely good that a CPU upgrade will work. Any difference in part number or BIOS revision indicates a potential difference in what the hardware is capable of supporting. Also make sure that the cooling systems (fans, heat sinks, etc) are identical between your systems and his...
