Default #Weird problem with P4B533

Have a foredn with a P4B533 with P4 1.6 CPU and 284 MB ram. Noticed that
the HDD activity lite was on continously in WinXP SP1. As well the CD
ROM drive lite was flashing. There are two HDs on same channel and the
CD ROM is on the other channel along with a burner (master). Tried
everything I could think of including disabling the PCI channels in
BIOS. However the lights start flashing just after the POST. Then I
tried re-enabling the speech bootup voice that tells you whether
everything is OK. Well that fixed the problem. No more HHD or CD ROM
light problem. His BIOS is 1004 whereas I believe the current version is
1014. Anyone else seen this problem?
