Default Need advice on upgrade options

Martin,

I just upgraded 2 of my machines here, at a cost of $1700 (850 each)

I found all of my parts at http://www.pricewatch.com

Each machine is now a 3.0GHz P4 Hyperthreaded on an Asus P4P 800 Motherboard
160GB HD
1GB Memory

You can honestly go either way as far as your upgrades go. If you play other
games besides FS, you might want to go the AMD route. I just stick with
Intel, because I had a real crappy AMD chip once.

I'm planning a system upgrade. My highest demand usage would be FS2002
and I had thought to get an AMD XP 2800+ or 3000+ on a Gigabyte or
Asus motherboard, but a local store suggested a Pentium 4 2.8GHz
Hyperthreaded through 2 x 512 400MHz DDR RAM, sitting on an Intel
D865PERL 800 FSB motherboard.

I'm not sure which would give me more bang for my buck and I would
appreciate any input from those experienced in such things as I'm
certainly not an expert and obviously want to make best use of
available funds.

FS2002 is superceded and any reasonable system today will handle it without
hesitation.

Thanks for your advice - I'll be making up my mind soon, I hope.
