Hard Drive Capacity
I've got an 18 month old Acer Aspire 1300 (1301XV).
I want to upgrade the hard drive but cannot find anywhere the capacity supported by the BIOS, can't get any replies from Acer either. Anyone any idea what size I can fit. My dealer says that cannot 'check' for me despite it being a slot in drive as they say once the pack is open it is now second hand; I've heard some owners of other laptops say over 60GB may be a problem. Have you considered an external USB 2 hard drive? Got 2 x 250Gb plugged into my acer no problem. USB 2 bypasses the BIOS and is only max'ed out by the windows version you are using. Yes, I do have one but it is my daughter's laptop and she likes the SIMS and it has taken up most of her HD so the one I am enquiring about needs to be bootable, which I don't think the usb HDs are.
