Default flickering/brightness change

hi

I've noticed a small random flickering , especially noticable when the
screen is mostly white. It takes the form of small changes in the
brightness - everything will become slightly dimmer for a second or less,
then turn back. The "flickers" only happen every few seconds/minutes.

Using a new BFG 7600GS OC. Also, using a new monitor (replacement for one
which died last week)

My question is, whether this flicker is likely to be caused by the card or
the monitor. Has anyone heard of such a problem with a card? I will try to
haul the monitor down to another PC for testing later but as it is large and
I am currently weak from sickness, it would be great if anyone knows the
likely cause or anything I can test without carrying the monitor around.

If it is incipient monitor failure, say the flyback transformer, you
can't do anything about it but test a different monitor.

If it is not, it could be a loose connection between cables (or the
connections are ok, but the pins inside aren't ok) or it could be
fluctuating voltage either provided to the monitor from the wall or
wonky power to the video card from the pc.

It sounds more like monitor failure. Sorry that you are feeling oogy.
The good news is, that your vid card is likely a-ok.

Thanks Mr E! I'll contact the monitor supplier and see what they say.
