Default memory too slow...

memory too slow...

Compaq Presario S4020WM computer, purchased from WalMart last year
Windows XP Home (SP1) with all of the latest updates
2.00 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP 2400+ processor
originally 128MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM, replaced with two 512MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM
modules (purchased from 4AllMemory.com specifically for this computer model)
1024MB RAM - 32MB shared video = 992MB free RAM
Board: KM266-8235
Motherboard Chipset VIA VT8375 ProSavageDDR KM266
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD AM37320 08/01/2003
S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR Display adapter
originally a slow 40G Western Digital hard drive, replaced with a 7200rpm
8MBcache 120G Maxtor (6Y120P0)

The AIDA32 benchmark indicates that my memory speed is much too slow, only
about half as fast as it should be. It's the same speed as ordinary PC133
SDRAM, although it's PC2100 DDR SDRAM.

Here below is the AIDA32 benchmark list for the Memory Read operation. The
benchmark for the Memory Write operation is similar. As you can see "This
Computer" (13th from the bottom of the list) has a benchmark of only
815MB/s. It should probably be twice as fast (about 1600MB/s), as you can
see from the benchmarks for various PC2100 DDR SDRAM machines.

Why?

Is there a fix?

Dunno, but mt S5200CL with Athlon 2600 came with PC2700 DDR, not PC2100.
I'll run AIDA32 and WinTune and see what they say.

The AIDA32 benchmark indicates that my memory speed is much too slow,
only about half as fast as it should be. It's the same speed as
ordinary PC133 SDRAM, although it's PC2100 DDR SDRAM.

Here below is the AIDA32 benchmark list for the Memory Read
operation. The benchmark for the Memory Write operation is similar.
As you can see "This Computer" (13th from the bottom of the list) has
a benchmark of only 815MB/s. It should probably be twice as fast
(about 1600MB/s), as you can see from the benchmarks for various
PC2100 DDR SDRAM machines.

Why?

Is there a fix?

Both Aida32 and Sandra, in every instance of benchmarking 15-20
computers of all kinds over the years, provide almost exactly the same
50-60% as you find. I would very much like to see and test one of the
top performers in person. IMO PCMark does a more verifiable performance
test since the user can validate against other similar machines which is
not possible with either Aida or Sandra.

If you can, next time post a link to a screen cap of the output of the tool.

This format for this information is just too painful to read.
