Default Chrome blasts XP out of the water when I Exit from it

My employer uses Google Chrome for their OS (it's a school). I
installed some variant of the Chrome browser on my WindowsXP desktop
and am able to sign onto the school's website, get my email, view
paychecks, ask for time off, info on snow days etc. Very useful. I
can't make out what version of Chrome I installed.

menu (3 vertical dots) - Help - About Chrome

The problem I'm having is Exiting from this site when I'm done. About
25% of the time XP will disappear in a blue screen with white letters
and a reboot takes place.

BSODs have text. What is the error code?

I've found an Exit to
click on in Chrome, not just the big x in the upper right corner,
doesn't help. Can't use Taskmaster to close it either, same blowup.

Instead of closing the program, right-click on it in the Processes tab
and select to End Task (kill it). That will have Chrome get killed
instead of trying to gracefully exit. If the crash still happens,
something else is causing it upon the Chrome exit event. You need to
eliminate (disable) all extensions to make sure those aren't causing the
problem. Also unload/exit any software before loading Chrome that works
with Chrome, like some proxy for blocking web content, VPN, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas how to safely Exit from Google Chrome
without destroying my WinXP session?

Check what extensions you installed in Chrome. Disable all of them and
retest.

Look in Event Viewer at the time of the OS crash. Might not be Chrome.
Could be the anti-virus software.

Load Windows XP in its safe mode with networking and retest with Chrome.
