To emphasise:
1 - Get *another* disk *NOW!!!!!!!*
2 - Backup/Copy what is on the LaCie to the new disk, *NOW!!!!!!*
3 - Put the LaCie in for a warranty replacement.
4 - Make sure that you don't rely on a single device ever again.
