Win2000 installs all optical drives in PIO mode by default, just go and turn
on DMA and you're set.

I just switched from a SCSI Yamaha CDR burner to a brand new IDE Plextor

20GB HD

Could this problem be caused by some sort of software issue? Would it be
worth while to try to format my HD and start with a fresh install of
Windows
2000? Or is it possible it's a hardware issue. Currently the DVD burner
is
configured as a slave attached to the secondary IDE port. The master on
that port is my existing CD reader. It was easiest to set things up like
this due to the cabling issue since I believe that the master has to be on
the end of those 80 conductor cables.
