Default HP Printer Original CD's

Be aware that some HP printers may not have updated drivers for newer
operating systems, and that most HP printer, scanner and digital camera
drivers for Win98 are currently not available due to agreements with
Microsoft, which do not allow for publication or distribution of drivers
containing MS code for no longer supported OSs.

I am still working on trying to change this policy at Microsoft and will
provide information if and when such changes are facilitated.

This same problem may not be a problem for other printer manufacturers,
as it depends upon if certain MS code was incorporated into the driver
or not. To date, it would appear Epson drivers, for instance, used
their own driver code in most cases, which allows them to get around
this problem.

In the meantime, I can only suggest you try to Google for such items
where someone might have them available on the web. Do keep in mind
that the original CDs often contained drivers which ended up requiring
updates to correct for bugs and OS changes that were made after the
product was released.

Also, I suggest people using such peripherals as discussed above make
sure to maintain backup versions of the drivers they are using currently
in case their system should corrupt and need to be reloaded.

I have several older HP printers and want to go about getting the
original (or most recently released) HP installation CD's. HP will
charge +$10.00 for each CD but offer drivers for free. Most of the
time these CD's have other useful tools/apps besides the drivers.

Is there a site which has CD ISO images for download? Does HP have
them buried on their FTP site? Looking for ISO's of install CD's for:

Deskjet 990Cse
PSC 750
PhotoSmart P1000
