That could be an old PPGA-only adapter for Mendocino Celerons only - and
that wouldn't work with your processor, thus your problem. An adapter
compatible with Coppermines would have to have at least a "Celeron -
Coppermine" jumper, and even then not all of them would be suited:

You'll probably need another slot adapter suitable for Coppermines.
(Tualatin adapters tend to support Coppermines as well, at least the
Slot-T does.)
