Hi all,

I just bought a 32 bit cardbus pcmcia network card to place in my
Compaq Armada 4131, only to find out that the card is not recognized
by Win98. The device manager tells me it uses a Cirrus Logic PCIC
Compatible PCMCIA
Controller.

Somewhere in a newsgroup I found that the 4131 does not support 32
bits pcmcia cards.

Now the question is:
- can anybody confirm the 32 bits cardbus pcmcia cards are not
supported on the 4131?
- does anybody managed to get such a card working in the 4131?
- are there any tricks (Bios flashes, patches, new pcmcia driver,
anything) that will make a 32 bits card work in the 4131?

Hope somebody can help me out here.

Thanks, Ronald

Nope, I had a 4130 and more recently a 4160T. 32-bit cardbus is NOT
supported on the 4100 series at all. I was trying to get USB onto the
Armada 4160T and saw a USB PC-Card, but I did some investigating at the mfr.
web site and found the Armada 4100 was definitely NOT supported by that
particular PC Card. You may want to check with Cirrus Logic --
http://www.cirrus.com -- if you have the card's model number you may be able
to dig up some documentation and compatibility lists for it, but I'm fairly
certain that it's not doable.

Good luck, tho.
