No good. It makes no difference whether I have the zip drive connected
or disconnected, I still get 'error 1' and Drive Image 2002 won't start.
None of the other reasons listed seem to have any bearing on this
problem. so I'm at a loss at the moment as to what to do.
I've done some more chkdsk tests but no more errors were detected. I've
also removed/installed Drive Image.
Any ideas please?

Make a (DOS) partinfo and post it here. Refer to manual for instructions on
creating a partinfo.
