run check disk and if that passes then follow the instruction you posted
regarding creating a new restore point (at which time it should begin to do
so automatically again).

select start, mycomputer, right-click on the drive you want to check and
choose properties, tools (tab), error-checking, check now, start.... do this
for each local disk (hard drive) that you may have.

Got a question that is rather technical, but since Dell hasn't been
