Can you boot from floppy disk?
www.bootdisk.com - download an XP install disk (well, 6 of the *******s)
It seems quite odd that you cannot boot from drives as new as those. Try
an older drive on the system to see if the IDE controller is faulty.

floppy boot works fine, if i create a command line boot disk
as for it being the IDE controllers
i had this problem on a previous board (abit nf7 v2.0) now using an msi kt6v
with same problems so it eliminates the problem of it being the IDE
controller... have no idea what at all is wrong with it.
Im baffled
