What are you comparing? Using arbitrary words like OLD NEW, doesn't
cut it. AND YOU SAID A HARDDRIVE upgrade will make more of a
performance kick than upgrading the CPU.

OK then lets talk what era's we are referring to. 1980's HD Vs 2002?
Why would we be comparing this?

Obviously there's many shades of gray. But let's not be stupid and
talk about the 80's, okay?

As an example, I recently updated my old Celery "450A" machine to give
to my brother (a big upgrade, for him). To update it, I replaced the
10GB 7200RPM IBM 14GXP with a new Maxtor. This made a QUITE
noticeable improvement in the system's overall performance, while my
experience tells me that upgrading the CPU to, say, 1.2GHz (with a
Powerleap) would have been essentially unnoticeable.

I agree on the hard drive but I beg to differ on the tualatin. Both my BH6s
are running 1.3 gig tualerons (my own slotket mod) and I do 'notice' it
Got another in an Asus P2B-VM (HTPC) and another in a Chaintech 6OIV2 (HTPC).
