Yes, that card would solve the problem of not having a Serial ATA controller
on the motherboard. It would plug into the white slots (called PCI) on your
motherboard, there should be 3, 5 or 6 of the slots, depending on the size
of the board. Usually there are 5 of them. The brown slot is an AGP slot,
intended for graphics cards.

I'd say additional cables would be:

a) Serial ATA cables (thin, flat, 7-pin cables)

have picked have a right-angle, which is useful for plugging in on the HDD
side of the cable).

b) 4-pin molex to Serial ATA power cables (most PSUs don't have the correct
power plugs for SATA HDDs)
