Default Crazy easy fix for stuck BenQ cd/dvd drives.

Hello,

You may not believe it and I may not believe it myself but this actually works.

First I tell you shortly where this solution came from... probably me... misinterpreting somebody elses solution or maybe I interpret it correctly. I don't know but the following fix seems to work 100% reliable for my BenQ drive which got stuck... I already tried oiling it by dropping oil on it through the opening... and also tried cleaning it etc... with little luck... probably stupid to try it that way anyway... I also noticed these cords/chains or whatever.

I also tried pulling it out today/the tray with sticky tape but didn't really seem to work it might have something to do with it though but for now:

But here goes:

1. There is a small little hole in front of the cd/dvd drive.

The hole is intended to accept an unrolled paper clip.

See, even Jose knows this.

If you have a stainless steel paper clip, you can partially
unroll it, making a "probe" with a "handle". They should really
put one of these in the retail box, as a "hint".

Put the "probe" into the hole, push against the mechanical mechanism in there
and the tray will open a bit.

Obviously the hole is an "escape mechanism", to be used
when the drive does not have any power, but you want
to get the media out of the drive.

When you install a drive into a computer case, sometimes it's
a tight fit, and you distort the computer case or the drive
casing or something. This causes the tray to "jam" against
the frame, preventing it from opening. Applying pressure to
the front (with tape or magnets or something), may release
the jam by accident.

The front bezel on some drives is removable. The retail box
the drive comes in, has a beige and a black bezel, and the
user can install the bezel color of their choice. But at
the same time, if the bezel is installed crooked, it can jam
up the tray.

You must use your trained eyeball to spot these issues, in
order to have a trouble-free optical drive lifetime.

And you absolutely do not splash oil around an optical drive.
You must keep everything inside clean clean clean. Not full
of oily dirt. Who wants oil smudges on their DVD ?
